One American reconnaissance plane missing in Iraq, al-Sader city bombarded

The American forces stressed it had lost contacts with the reconnaissance plane which was flying over Haifa street in Baghdad. One American military spokesman said that the plane sent its last signals yesterday at noon and it is not known yet what happened to it.

One Islamic site on the Internet said in a statement that al-Tawhid Wal Jihad group led by the Jordanian Abu Musab al-Zarqawi downed two American planes in Haifa street.

In a later development, the American planes bombarded several sectors in al-Sader city in Baghdad, just hours after the Iraqi Interim prime minister Eyad Allawi denied reaching an agreement with al-Mahdi army to halt the confrontations in this city.

Earlier 16 persons were killed and other 26 injured in an attack by a booby trapped car that targeted a center for new volunteers in the national guard in Ana city to the west of Baghdad.

One Iraqi child was killed and seven members of the national guards were injured when a booby trapped car went off that targeted one Iraqi military barrier in al-Maseib city to the south of Baghdad.

The American and joint Iraqi forces besieged Jurf al-Sakher area where several persons were arrested. To the north of al-Maseib a unit of the Iraqi and American forces besieged parts of al-Yousefeyah area which had witnessed violent confrontations on Tuesday.
