Qathafi calls for release of British hostage, Damascus rejects to be involved in the French hostages case
Iraq-Regional, Local, 10/7/2004
Damascus yesterday refused remarks loomed by French sources on the possibility that the two French hostages in Iraq and their Syrian drivers are with it and the attempt to link the matter with UN Security Council resolution 1559 as well as the allegations that it used the mediation made by the French parliamentarian Dedieh Julia.
For his part, the French Parliamentarian Francois Bayro indicated that the government has not ruled out the two French to be with the Syrian authorities. Bayro, the chairman of the federation party for French democracy told the French ( Europe I ) radio that this assumption can be explained in the wrong practices pursued to release the two hostages and their Syrian driver.
On the other hand, the Libyan official news agency quoted the leader Muammar al-Qathafi in Mesrata saying "if they have conditions to ( release Begley) let's them notify us by any means. Simultaneously we ask the British government to make all efforts with the interim Iraqi government and its US alley to release the Iraqi women prisoners. The condition set by the kidnappers."
