Libya, Economics, 10/5/2004

"The structure of the off shore rig 'Sabaratha', one of the main components of the mega project was installed Sunday morning. The rig is for the West (Libya) Gas project, through which 1000 million cupic feet of natural gas would be produced daily as well as about 65,000 barrels of densities per day," JANA reported yesterday.

The report said "The rig was installed 200 meters deep into the sea, in its place in the Sea of Peace Gas field, 110 kilometers north of Tripoli, to form the pillar of West of Tripoli Gas Project."
The report added "Sabartha off shore rig was ordered at the cost of 750 million dollars, and will pump gas production through two immersed pipelines to a gas treatment planet at Mellita, where the treatment will take place, and sulfur will be extracted, then the production would be pumped into the domestic market, and the surplus would be exported through the under the Sea pipeline to Europe."
