Syria and US handle with pending finance issues
Syria-USA, Politics, 10/4/2004

Syrian and US financial officials on Saturday in Washington discussed the outcome of the last visit for the US Treasury Department delegation in Damascus and finalized the latest unresolved issue between them with satisfactory signals to both sides, SANA said on Sunday.

A session of talks in this respect was attended by Minister of Finance Mohammed Hussein, who described the meeting as an example to handle issues between the two countries while the director general of the Commercial Bank of Syria expressed hope that from now on he would see cooperation between the bank and the US finance authorities, but not a useless confrontation for both sides.

Ambassador Mustafa voiced conviction that the meeting would have come in framework of solving some unsettleled issues between the two countries and achieving progress in relations whenever it was possible.

He expected such atmospheres would prevail in the meeting scheduled to be held between Minister of Finance and US Under Secretary of State for Economic and Business affaires.

Minister of Finance and Minister of Economy and Trade Ghassan Rifaee as well D. G. of the Commercial Bank of Syria are in Washington to attend the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund.
