Archeological findings-in Damascus countryside

New archeological findings were unearthed in Damascus Countryside Governorate by the National Archeological Team at the end of this season's excavations.
The findings, at the site of Mar Takla Mount in Ein Mnin area, some 35 KM from Damascus, included several ancient architectures with some made from stone, clay toys, bronze coins that date back to as old as the Byzantine, Roman, Persian and Islamic periods.
Director of Damascus Countryside Archeology and Ruins Department Mahmoud Hammoud said the National Team also unearthed parts of very old walls in Halboun Temple, 40 KM from Damascus, where they were scientifically photographed and documented. He added that a stone with Greek writing was also discovered in the area.
Also in Heine, some 50 KM from Damascus, ancient architectures that date back to the Roman and Islamic eras were discovered.
