Khatami will hold an Arab tour
Regional-Iran, Politics, 9/30/2004
The Iranian President Muhammad Khatami will head next Saturday for Algeria, in the context of a tour which will take him also to Sudan and Oman.
Diplomatic relations between Algeria and Iran were severed in 1993 after Algeria accused Tehran of supporting the extremist Islamists. Relations between the two countries were resumed in 2000 and the Algerian President Abdul Aziz Buraflika visited Tehran in October 2003. The Iranian official news agency said that Khatami will head after that to Sudan and Oman.
