Two American soldiers, scores of Iraqis killed in explosions in Baghdad
Iraq, Military, 9/30/2004

One American soldier was killed and other seven injured in a missile attack against a base for supplying the American forces near Baghdad. A statement for the American army gave no details about the attack or its precise place.

Also in Baghdad one American military spokesman announced today morning the killing of 13 persons in a booby trapped car near a military base in al-Mansour area.

These developments coincided with a booby trapped car explosion and a bomb that targeted a patrol for the American forces to the south of Baghdad. Iraqi police sources said that the number of killed persons might reach 20.

This came following the blowing up of a booby trapped car in front of a government complex including the municipal building of Abu Ghreib and the city's police center and the civil defense headquarters.

News reports said that the explosion resulted in killing 8 Iraqis. Iraqi medical sources said that more 60 persons were injured in the attacks including four American soldiers and one American tank was damaged as parked in the place and several buildings were cracked.

One Iraqi police office and one police man were killed in an armed attack that targeted the car which was carrying them in Musil city to the north of Iraq today.

In al-Ramadi, Iraqi medical sources said that 3 civilians were injured including one woman during fire exchange between fighters and the American marines in al-Ramadi city today morning. Tension is overwhelming the city which often witnesses clashes between the marines and the fighters. On the other hand, the American army cordoned Riyadh town, situated to the west of Karkouk in the north of Iraq, and launched a campaign of arrest following which some 30 Iraqis were arrested. Iraqi police sources said that the acts of arrest came following a bomb explosion that targeted one American armored vehicle on Wednesday evening and resulted in damaging neighboring buildings.
