Kuwait: $ 367 million for persons damaged from the Iraqi invasion

The Kuwaiti News agency said yesterday that the board of directors of the UN compensations committee approved on Thursday giving a sum of $ 367 million for compensating damaged sides "persons and companies" over the losses that resulted from the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990.
The agency explained that this sum includes $ 345 million to demands by group (D), in which every demand is over $ 100,000 in additions to other 30 requests demanded by the state of Kuwait estimated at $ 551, 000. The council, which has Geneva as a headquarters also approved 1676 Palestinian demands submitted by the Palestinian Authority estimated at a value of $ 28 million.
One Kuwaiti official announced in August that his country received $ 9.5 billion as war compensations from Iraq and gave the sum to those effected. He indicated that the value of the demands approved by the UN reached $ 38.5 billion. Kuwait's demands of compensations from Iraq is estimated at $ 170 billion.
