Clashes in al-Ramadi, Falluja

The Iraqi police and witnesses said that American occupation forces clashed with fighters in al-Ramadi town to the west of Baghdad and this resulted in wounding scores of Iraqis. The American forces closed the downtown of the city where large explosions shook the two quarters of "July 17" and "al-Azezeyah".

Prior to these explosions artillery bombardment were heard on the Eastern part of Falluja followed by an American military raid at al-Shuhadaa quarters to the south of the city, before another raid had targeted the northern areas.

In al-Saqlaweyah to the north west of Falluja, one American vehicle was hit when two explosives targeted an American military procession.

In Baghdad, four Iraqis were killed and other 14 injured in mortars bombardment that targeted a crowd in Palestine Street in the downtown of the city.

Ten Iraqis including three members in the national guards were injured in clashes that took place in al-Dalou' town to the north of Baghdad between the Iraqi security forces and the American forces on the one hand and Iraqi fighters on the other.

In Karkouk unidentified persons bombarded a set of oil pipelines that feed the Iraqi oil refinery in Beji town.

Member of the Muslim scholars commission in Iraq and the preacher in al-Qadereyah mosque Sheikh Mahmoud Khalaf al-Esawi escaped an assassination attempt on Friday when gunmen attacked his car on the highway to the west of Baghdad.
