Morocco arrests 145 illegal immigrants Monday, Tuesday

Morocco arrested on Tuesday and Monday 145 iollegal immigrants in combing operations conducted in different regions of the Kingdom, including Laayoune and Tan Tan (south), Tetouan and Fez(north), Nador (northeast).

Some were intercepted by Morocco's Royal Navy onboard makeshift boats.

The candidates to illegal immigration include 62 Moroccans, 45 sub-Saharans, 32 Bangladeshis and 6 Algerians, the interior ministry said.

Illegal immigrants come to Morocco seeking to cross to Spain or other European countries.

Morocco has created two bodies to fight illegal immigration and crack down on human trafficking networks, namely the Directorate of Migration and Border Surveillance and the Migration Observatory.
