Southern Sudan negotiations resumed on October 7th
Sudan, Politics, 9/23/2004

The Kenyan mediation committee said that the Sudanese government and the rebels of the people's army for the liberation of Sudan will resume on October 7th peace negotiations which reached a deadlock since the end of July.

A member in the mediation committee which supervises by the regional Government Authority for Development (IGAD) said "they agreed to return back on October 7th." Both Khartoum and the people's army led by John Garang on July 28th postponed in Nivasha near Nairobi the peace negotiations which had been continuous since two and a half years aiming at putting an end to the conflict standing since 21 years.

Meantime, the Egyptian middle East News Agency MENA said that the Sudanese government and the Democratic National Coalition (an opposition in exile ) will in September 28 resume in Cairo their dialogue for reconciliation.
