Al-Shara and Powell meet in New York

Syria's Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara on Wednesday held talks with the US Secretary of State Colin Powell at the UN in New York.
During the meeting, both sides reviewed the latest developments in the region, particularly in Iraq, and exchanged viewpoints on the best means to achieve stability in Iraq and to preserve its unity. They also stressed the important results of the visit paid by the US Assistant Secretary of State William Burns to Damascus and his talks with President Bashar al-Assad.
