Morocco, Local, 9/21/2004

Morocco's Prince Moulay Rachid, younger brother of King Mohammed VI, visited Saturday the cultural and tourism festival of Tan Tan.

The festival was held on September 13-19 under the theme "a continuous march to link the present to the future in the service of the Moroccan heritage and sustainable development."

The prince was greeted at the festival by UNESCO's Director General, Koichiro Matsuura, government members and national and foreign figures invited to the event.

The Prince unveiled the commemorative plaque, announcing the start of Tan Tan Moussem (celebration). He also visited tents wherein were showcased several aspects of nomads' culture and life.

At the end of the ceremony, Prince Moulay Rachid handed an award to the owner of the best camel herd.
