One American killed, Zarqawi group assassinates one of its hostages
Iraq-USA, Politics, 9/21/2004

News reports said that " al-Tawhid Wal Jihad" group led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi killed one of the two American hostages held in Iraq and put in its website on the Internet a video tape showing the killing process.

In a message on the said web, the group said that the executed hostage is Eugine Armstrong, who was kidnapped from his house in Baghdad last Thursday with a second American and a third British. The group threatened to kill the two other hostages unless their demands are met to release Iraqi women prisoners in Abu Ghreib and Um Qaser within 24 hours. One American official said that the body of Armstrong was found.

In the same context, some members of the Iraqi national guards were released. They were kidnapped by an armed group that threatened to kill them if Hazem al-Araji, the official in al-Shaheed al-Sader office is not released within 48 hours.

One Turkish company stressed that 10 of its employees were held as hostages in Iraq, but refused to say whether it intends to withdraw from Iraq, as the kidnappers demanded.

Meantime, the American forces said in a statement that one American soldier was killed in an attack against one American patrol near al- Shirqat town of Musil governorate to the north of Iraq.

In Musil, one Turkish driver was killed and another injured in an attack in the city. Two Turkish journalists were injured and also two Turkish members in a humanitarian organization in an attack carried out by unidentified gunmen in their vehicle near the city. Turkey deplored the attack and asked the Iraqi authorities to arrest its executors.

Few hours earlier, three persons were killed in a booby trapped car explosion in the downtown of al-Musil.

In Falluja to the west of Baghdad, two Iraqis were killed in an air raid carried out by the American jets at the northern entrance of the city, according to sources in the city's hospital.
