Arab Businesswomen Forum concludes deliberations

Under the Patronage of Syria's First Lady Asma al-Assad, the meeting of Arab Businesswomen was held at Meridian Hotel in the Syrian coastal city of Lattakia under the title "Activating Woman's Role in Tourism and Tourist Society." The meeting was organized Friday night by the Committee of Arab Businesswomen in Lattakia with the cooperation of the Council of Arab Businesswomen.
Attending the meeting were Economy and Trade Minister Ghassan al-Refaee, Tourism Minister Saadullah Agha al-Qala'a, and Head of the Arab Businesswomen Council Sheikha Hessa Saadullah Salim al-Sabah.
Minister al-Refaee pointed out to the real prospects of the Syrian economy and its ability to facilitate the contribution of all economic sectors in the economic development process.
The Minister stressed that Syria is adopting a policy of reform, modernization and openness to the world in order to move towards an economy based on technology of information and communication.
He also stressed the important role of women in boosting social and economic development in Syria.
For her part, Sheikha al-Sabah asserted the importance of this meeting as one of the most significant pillars of modern development issues that the Arab states seek to develop.
She talked about the role of women and their relation to the tourist activity, calling for serious tourism based on vocational bases and rules.
Later, Minister al-Refaee opened the Exhibition of the Businesswomen Products and Exhibition of the Syrian Women.
On Sunday, The Arab Businesswomen Forum stressed the necessity of exchanging expertise for enhancing cooperation and activating the role of the human resources.
At the conclusion of its deliberations on Sunday, the forum called for offering all facilities for entering the Syrian markets, reviving the tourist investments and activating youth tourist exchange among the Arab states.
The forum also called on launching marine and land tourism among the Arab states as well as developing the tourist investment laws in Syria.
Mrs. Lila Khiyyat from Tunisia, briefed the meeting on the Tunisian experience in field of tourism and the main role of the public and private sectors in development of tourism.
For her part, Mrs. Amani Asfour from Egypt, reviewed woman participation in the tourism industry in the world.
From Syria, Adel Awad talked about natural, environmental and developmental sustainable tourism. He discussed procedures that will contribute in developing the environmental tourism in the Syrian coast.
Form Morocco, Mrs. Lila Raji reviewed the woman rise in Morocco in the light of the latest developments as well as the importance of human resources in the tourist sector in Morocco.
