Moroccan prisoners detention conditions in Tindouf brought to ICRC official attention

The detention conditions of the 412 Moroccan prisoners in the Polisario Tindouf camps, South West Algeria, was brought to the attention of Herald Schmid De Gruneck, representative of the International Committee of the Red Cross by Taieb Fassi Fihri, Moroccan Foreign minister delegate.
At a meeting here Thursday, at the end of the ICRC official mission in Morocco, Fassi Fihri stressed the detention of the Moroccan prisoners by Polisario was in violation of international humanitarian rights and in contempt of the UN Security Council resolutions and of repeated calls of the international community, a communiquŽ of the Moroccan foreign ministry sent to Map Friday said.
Fassi Fihri underscored the excellent coordination and the quality of dialog that mark the relations between Morocco and the ICRC and reiterated Morocco's commitment to carry on the fruitful cooperation with the committee, namely in disseminating the principles of the international humanitarian rights.
