American-Libyan meeting on abrogating the sanctions
Libya-USA, Politics, 9/18/2004
The US Department Of State considered that abrogating sanctions on Libya was the subject of discussion in a meeting held in London between the US under secretary of state William Buns and Libyan officials.
Burns met with the Libyan delegation for three hours. This is before September 22, the date set by Tripoli to Washington in order to lift the sanctions imposed on it, otherwise it will only pay half of the sanctions it vowed to pay for the victims of the families of Lockerbie attack in 1988.
During the meeting, no decision was taken on the sanctions. A new meeting is decided to be held next week.
