Ben Ali calls on Africa to withstand globalization challenges

In a speech he addressed to the African Bank Forum for development currently held in Tunisia, the Tunisian President Zine al-Abidin Ben Ali said that "our world today" is witnessing accelerated developments, that it makes it imperative to make more efforts to enable the African continent to cope with these changes and joining developing countries's march and achieving sustainable development.

In a speech read on his behalf by the Tunisian prime minister Muhammad al-Ghanoushi on the 40 foundation anniversary of founding the African bank for development, Ben Ali said that the globalization of the economy represents the main element in these changes. This, he said, needs more interests to be given to developmental issues, withstanding economic and social challenges we are facing, especially the elimination of poverty and unemployment.

Ben Ali stressed his care to put the Tunisian developmental experience which was widely welcomed at the disposal of the Africans, either in the context of the African Union, or the new partnership programs for developing Africa or in the context of technical cooperation and cooperation among the countries of the south.
