BBC: Annan: Invasion of Iraq is illegitimate

The UN secretary general Kofi Annan considered yesterday in an interview broadcast by the BBC ( world section) that the American invasion of Iraq in 2003 "was illegitimate."
Annan said "I am one of those who believe that it was necessary to issue a second resolution by the UN Security Council to approve the American invasion which toppled Saddam Hussein's regime."
He said " I mentioned that this was not in conformity with the UN charter from our view point, also from the UN charter view point."
