On the hostages in Iraq
Iraq, Politics, 9/16/2004
A Turkish diplomatic source said that one Turkish translator was released. He was held by gunmen in Iraq and will return back home again.
The diplomat said that Ayatullah Geizmin is currently in the Turkish embassy in Baghdad. Two Turkish companies had recently left Iraq in order to avoid exposing the life of the translator who is 23 year old.
Gheizmen was kidnapped with Mourat Youshi who was killed by al-Tawhid and al-Jihad Islamic group of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi by opening fire at his head.
For its part, a Jordanian land transport company decided to halt the work of all the company's trucks which transport oil byproducts to Iraq, in response to demands of an Iraqi group which kidnapped one Jordanian driver working for it.
In a later development, the American forces released yesterday 275 Iraqi prisoners from Abu Ghrieb prison amid the new changes that emerged from the prisoners torturing scandals in which American soldiers and officers were accused in April. Other 500 Iraqi prisoners are expected to be released by the end of September.
