Mubarak probes with Chinese FM bilateral relations, ME issues

Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak received yesterday Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing and his accompanying delegation at Borg el-Arab Airport VIP lounge. The meeting was attended by the Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul-Gheit and the Chinese ambassador to Egypt.
President Mubarak discussed with the Chinese Foreign Minister bilateral relations and the Middle East issues.
Zhaoxing conveyed greetings of the Chinese leaders to President Mubarak.
Meanwhile, the first ministerial meeting of the Arab-Chinese forum was held yesterday at the Cairo-based Arab League headquarters, in the presence of Zhaoxing, along with Arab Foreign Ministers and Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa.
The meeting was aimed at promoting friendship relations and cooperation between Arab countries and China.
The Chinese Foreign Minister and Moussa signed two documents of the declaration and working programs of the Arab-Chinese cooperation forum.
The two sides agreed that the forum represented a new mechanism to cement dialogue and relations between China and Arab countries. The Foreign Ministers exchanged views in an atmosphere of friendship and cordiality on means to develop relations between Arab countries and China in the coming stage.
The two sides affirmed that China and Arab countries supported the independence, sovereignty and integrity of territories of each party. China supported the just Arab causes and national interests while the Arab countries renewed support for the unity of China.
The two sides expressed their resolve to take positive measures and work together to activate Arab-Chinese cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, energy, education, culture, information, human resources, science, technology, medicine, health and the environment, in addition to other domains.
They shed light on coordination on the international arena and working to maintain peace and stability on the regional and international levels.
They agreed on holding the second ministerial meeting of the Arab-Chinese forum in Beijing in 2006. They also agreed on holding a meeting of Arab-Chinese businessmen in 2005 for activating economic and trade relations between the two sides.
