Moussa: No security system can be set up in ME while double-standard policy still exists
Regional-Israel, Politics, 9/14/2004
Arab League Secretary-General Amr Moussa said on Sunday any security system cannot be set up in the Middle East region in the light of the existing double-standard policy.
Speaking to MENA after attending a session of the conference on security in the Gulf and Mediterranean region, Moussa said that attempts to make Israel the only nuclear power in the region would certainly affect the credibility of the Nuclear Non- Proliferation Treaty (NPT).
Mohammed Ibrahim Shaker, Deputy Chairman of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs, referred to President Hosni Mubarak's initiative on freeing the Middle East region from weapons of mass destruction.
He called for holding a conference to implement Mubarak's initiative.
