Syrian oil minister: no increase in oil prices
Syria, Economics, 9/14/2004

Syria's Minister of Oil and Mineral Resources, Ibrahim Haddad, on Monday said "Fuel is available in all service stations designed for selling this material." In a press conference today, Haddad stressed that "there is no rise in oil prices."

Haddad pointed out that Oil Ministry, in cooperation with the concerned parties, opted a number of procedures to put an end to smuggling fuel that affects negatively on the state and citizens.

" Syria produces 4 million tons of fuel per a year and imports 2 million tons," Haddad made it clear.

He noted that Syrian Establishment for Distribution of Petroleum Products is establishing 11 new service stations in Damascus and the other governorates to facilitate distribution of fuel.
