Al-Haidari courtyard to be opened for visitors next week
Iraq, Politics, 9/14/2004

In a new development, the Shiite authority ( Waqf) department decided to reopen the doors of the Haidari courtyard before visitors and worshippers next week following five months of the control of the al-Mahdi army of the Shiite leader Muqtada al-Sader on it.

One official in the department said that works of cleaning and maintenance are still ongoing inside the courtyard in order to remove dirt and blood spread in all entrances leading to the shrine and the surrounding trade shops. Large amounts of remains and ruins and several unexploded bombs were removed from the place.

The Shiite Waqf supervises all holy Shiite shrines in the cities of Baghdad, Karbala and Samera.
