Mubarak confers with William Burns on developments

President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt on Sunday stressed the necessity of the Israeli complete withdrawal from the occupied Syrian Golan, pointing out that this withdrawal should be one topic of the Syrian-American discussions that aimed at solving all problems in the region.
Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Majed Abdul Fatah stressed that President Mubarak, in meeting US Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs William Joseph Burns, called Israel to stop building the settlements in the Palestinian occupied lands, calling the international community to do its best to improve the situation of the Palestinian people.
He stressed Egypt's commitment to extend aid to the Iraqi people, calling also the international community to unify its efforts to restore Iraq's security and stability.
He expressed Egypt's rejection to deal with the situation in Sudan as genocide, pointing out to the exerted effort to improve the situation of the people in Darfur.
He asserted that dealing with the human problem in Darfur shouldn't be through imposing sanctions or threats but through enhancing the Sudanese government's capability to face the situation in line with the plan agreed to by the African Union and the UN.
Fatah said "Burns discussions with Egyptian officials were positive. Both sides agreed on definite steps regarding achieving stability and security in Iraq." Fatah stressed that the Syrian-Lebanese relations is linked by agreements, one of which is Taif Accord.
He added that the Syrian existence in Lebanon is a Lebanese internal affair and connected with the Syrian-Lebanese relations.
