Senator Dole in Libya to improve relations
Libya-USA, Politics, 9/11/2004

Former US Senator Bob Dole said that his visit to Libya about American -Libyan relations and the ways and means of their promotion was "very successful and warm, expressing his delight to meet the Leader," JANA reported yesterday.

Dole said " as the Leader said the past is past and it is over. We look forward to the present and future to build strong relations, and I believe my role is to speed up that, using my long years in the Congress and our contacts with officials up down the American government in both the Republican and Democratic Party. We must be hopeful," JANA reported.

The report added "Senator Dole praised the achievements realized in Great Jamahiriya, particularly the Great Man Made River, and the promising resources for economic investment in the desert."

Senator Dole was a majority leader at the US Senate, and Republican presidential candidate for 1996 presidential elections, he was known for his anti- Libyan stances, Jana said.
