RAM passengers increased by 14 percent in last 10 months

The Moroccan carrier Ç Royal Air Maroc È flew 3,05,517 passengers between November 2003 and August 2004, which is a 14 per cent rise compared to the same period the previous year, a press relase of the airline company said.

In spite of the fuel price rise, trade performances of RAM and the measures made to lower the comapny's expenses allowed the netting of good financial gains.

In august, RAM carried 442,725 passengers, recording a rise of 11 percent in comparison to the same month last year.

The number of passengers coming from Germany rose by 41 percent, Spain 32.5 percent, Italy 28 percent, Switzerland 26 percent, Great Britain 15 percent and from Africa and the Middle east regions 16 pc, each, North America 26 percent and France 10 percent.

The increase of flights in the 2004 summer and the opening of new lines, namely Casablanca-Bologne, Marrakech-Geneva and Agadir-Milano also helped in the carrier good performances.

Ram's turnover for the month of july reached 805.8 million Dhs (about US$ 89.5 million), recording a 17.8 percent increase compared to July 2003, while the overall turnover up to the end of July 2004 stood at 5.3 billion Dhs (around US$ 588 million), which is a 11.5 percent rise.
