Abuja negotiations suspended, new wave of displacement in Darfur

Talks between the Sudanese government and representatives for the rebels in Darfur were suspended until September 24, hours after its resumption to reach a solution for a problem that is 19 months old.
Abuja's discussions which are held under the auspices of the African Union is presumed to discuss two main issued: dismantling the weapons of the rebels and Jangaweid tribes and establishing peace in the area.
In another development, the Oxfam organization for humanitarian acts said that the violence which invades Darfur area resulted in the displacement of other scores of thousands of the people of the area.
Relief officials indicate that the conflict in Darfur caused in displacement of 1.4 million persons most of them went to adjoining Chad, but Oxfam said that other 30,000 persons arrived in one of its camps during the two last weeks.
The humanitarian organization said that the camp which is run in collaboration with another humanitarian relief organization "Greeda" in southern Darfur area was hosting 10,000 until August but the number increased to more than 40,000 with the fall of the 7th of September.
The camp is situated 100 km to the south of Neyala, to the south of Darfur. The trucks which carry relief items need five or six days to reach the camp because of the range roads.
People of the camp are obliged to drink unclean water directly from one of the valley which contains the seasonal water fall. Oxfam warned that even this water will dry soon, noting it seeks to provide the refuges with clean water.
