Israeli forces leave Beit Lahia, Jabalia, four Palestinians killed
Palestine-Israel, Military, 9/11/2004
News reports in Gaza said that the Israeli occupation forces withdrew today at dawn from Beit Lahia town and Jabalia camp, three days after their incursion in the two area, situated to the north of Gaza.
The news said that the Israeli incursion resulted in destroying 30 houses, either totally or partially as well as leveling vast areas of agricultural lands. The third day bombardment in Jabalia camp resulted in wounding 50 persons.
Two young Palestinians were killed yesterday by the Israeli forces in Jabalia, thereby the number of Palestinians killed in the camp increased to 4 including the local leader of Ezz Eddine al-Qassam groups, the military wing of the Islamic resistance ( Hamas) movement.
Meantime, in a measure which was described by Israel as preventive, the Israeli occupation forces blocked all occupied Palestinian territories in the West Bank and Gaza, in a new step expected to continue until the mid of October on line with the Jewish celebrations of the feasts.
A military source said that the decision to tighten the closure of the Palestinian territories is a preventive measure against Palestinian operations before the fall of the Jewish new year which start next Wednesday. The source added that this closure will ban the Palestinians from crossing the green line with the exception of the Palestinians who carry special visas.
Such measures have become a routine in the main Jewish celebrations since the eruption of al-Aqsa Intifada four years ago and under security pretexts.
Meanwhile, more than 50,000 Palestinians inside Israel organized a festival called for the Islamic movement which organizes the festival annually under the title "al-Aqsa mosque is endangered." The festival was held in Um al-Fahem and carried under the name "for the sake of al-Aqsa."
