Fischer calls for ME peace
Regional-Germany, Politics, 9/7/2004
German Foreign Minister Yoshka Fischer called for exerting all efforts to spread stability in the Middle East and find solution to the Palestinian cause through the establishment of the independent Palestinian state.
He stressed the necessity of establishing a strategic cooperation between the U.S. and Europe regarding the Middle East and the Peace process.
At the opening of the 5th Conference of the Heads of the German Diplomatic Missions abroad, he said that the American presidential election doesn't justify absence of efforts to revive the peace process, expressing pessimism regarding the current situation in the Mideast.
On Sharon's unilateral plan to withdraw from Gaza, he reiterated his country's call for the Israeli withdrawal from the occupied West Bank and the establishment of the Palestinian independent state.
He stressed the necessity of ensuring stability in the region, as well as reaching Euro-Mediterranean strategic cooperation.
