Yemen: closure of an opposition paper

Sanaa court yesterday issued a decision closing the opposition " al-Shoura " paper and jailing its chief editor Karim al-Khaweini for one year. The sentence was made over the paper's support for the Zeidi clergy Hussein Bader Eddine al-Houthi in Marran mountain in Saddah province.
The court convicted al-Khaweini over "provoking" against the government and publishing false news and insulting the Yemeni President.
