Lahoud for closer ties between Lebanon and Syria

Lebanese President Emile Lahoud Sunday said Lebanon is committed to its national and pan-Arab stances, referring to the distinguished relations that link Syria and Lebanon.

" Coordination between Lebanon and Syria will continue to achieve the just and comprehensive peace in the region," Lahoud said in a statement following a reception celebration on the occasion of Lahoud's presidency expansion for a three years term.

He underlined that dialogue is the only way of understanding on the political issues Lebanese people are aspiring for.

" The opportunity is available to reactivate the national institutions and meet the demands of Lebanese people," Lahoud said.

Meantime, a meetings of the Syrian-Lebanese Joint Committee for Electricity Affairs will start on Monday in the framework of executing the signed agreements between the two states in a way that contribute in developing joint cooperation in all fields.

An agreement on supplying Lebanon with electricity power will be singed during the meeting.
