Shara holds talks with Issa

Syria's Foreign Minister Farouk al-Shara on Sunday discussed with the U.S. Congressman Darrel Issa latest developments in the region, particularly in Iraq and the Palestinian lands and the Syrian-American relations and the existing dialogue between the two countries to reach common grounds over issues of the region.

Issa said in a statement following the meeting that his talks with President Bashar al-Assad on Saturday and with Shara on Sunday touched on the bilateral relations between Syria and the U.S., adding that both sides exchanged ideas and points of view on the situation in Iraq. The U.S. legislator pointed out that the aim of his visit to Syria is to improve relation between the two countries.
