King Mohammed resolved to carry on concerted action for Maghreb building
Libya-Morocco, Politics, 9/3/2004

King Mohammed VI of Morocco affirmed resolve to carry on concerted efforts with other Maghreban leaders to reinforce concord, complementarity, solidarity and unity.

In a message to leader of the Libyan Jamahiriya, Muammar al-Qathafi, on the 35th anniversary of the September 1st revolution, the sovereign expressed determination to activate mechanisms of the common Maghreban action, for further progress and development for the region's peoples, and to make the Maghreb Union, mustering Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Mauritania, an important regional grouping capable of contributing to peace, security and stability, and to consolidate neighborhood relations at the Euro-Mediterranean and African levels.

The sovereign insists, in his message, on the importance, in building the Maghreb Union, of the commitment to preserve the independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of each of its five members, to favor sound and rational integration on brotherly bases.

King Mohammed VI extended to al-Qadhafi wishes of happiness and good health, and of further progress and prosperity to the Libyan people.

He also wished the Libyan leader success in all his initiatives at the Arab, regional and international levels.

Speaker of the Moroccan House of Representatives (parliament lower chamber), Abdelouahed Radi, currently in Libya to take part in the festivities marking the revolution anniversary, also renewed king Mohammed VI's congratulations on Libya's national celebration.

This came at a meeting he had with his peer of the Libyan Popular Congress, Al Zanati Mohamed Al Zanati, focused on means to beef up Maghreban ties and structures.

The Moroccan speaker had earlier met Libyan leader, Muammar al-Qadhafi, and conveyed him King Mohammed VI's warmest congratulations.
