Al-Qathafi calls for an international convention to ban war in oil regions
Libya-Regional, Politics, 9/1/2004
Libya's Leader of the Revolution, Muammar Al-Qathafi "urged for an international convention making oil zones forbidden for wars, disturbances, military bases or fleets, stressing that this is the correct world policy," JANA reported yesterday.
He said "if military forces moved again to Gulf of Guinea, or Caspian Sea, the world must be ready for major losses in oil again, it reported.
It added "He wondered what would happen then? either to stop exploring for oil, or you change it into solid material and you increase its price infinitely, he stressed."
It added "He said such show of force would be irrelevant, it won't ensure oil supply but rather destroys it."
