Palestinian deputy intelligence chief survives assassination attempt

Deputy Chairman of the Palestinian general intelligence in the West Bank and Gaza, Maj. Gen. Tareq Abu Rajab ( 58 year old), survived an assassination attempt that resulted in killing two of his guards and wounding other two.
A Palestinian security source said that gunmen opened fire at the procession of Abu Rajab while he was on his way to the headquarters of the Intelligence in al-Sudaneyah area to the north of Gaza..
Meanwhile, the Israeli foreign minister Silvan Shalom is making a tour in Europe in an attempt to convince the European Union states not to support a resolution by the UN Security Council condemning the "wall of separation" during a vote due on September.
