Arab participation at the Frankfurt International Book Exhibition

Arab participation as an honorary guest in Frankfurt International Book Exhibition is a prominent event and an opportunity for the Arabs to show their civilized role through the history.

The exhibition administration dedicated about 2000 m2 for the Arab publishing houses and 9000 m2 for the art exhibitions and the accompanied activities. The estimated budget for this participation is about $ 3 million.

The exhibition gains its importance from its being an international book exhibition that attracts a great number of intellectuals, media-men and publishers from all the world. In addition, the activities of the exhibition, as cultural and political symposiums and arts and drama shows constitute an important meeting for exchanging ideas and dialogue.

The program of the Arab participation in the exhibition includes Arab printed and electronic book exhibition, which is organized by the Arab publishers Union. This exhibition includes more than 5 thousands titles in the history, heritage, arts, literature, economic, social, researches and technical sciences, geography and cities maps and guidance, Arab cultural circulations, children books and references and dictionaries and books translated from and to the Arabic language.

The program also includes exhibitions on traditional crafts and handicrafts, portrait, graphic and sculpture works. Exhibitions on children drawings, photographs of historical and heritage sites, "When Science talks in Arabic", Arab cultural tourism, and al-Quds, city of history and three religions.

There is also an exhibition on Christian Icons, Arab and Islamic art heritage, jewels, heritage fashion, the history of Arab mail, the Arab world in the eyes of orientalists, Arab plastic artists.

The cultural, literary and intellectual symposiums concentrate on the most important current cultural issues, discussions with Arab authors and intellectuals, poetic and stories readings eves, meetings between Arab and foreign authors and artists, Arab and foreign youth authors and meetings between Arab and foreign publishers.

Director General of the Arab Education, Sciences and Culture Organization (ESCOA) sponsored the Arab participation in the exhibition. Frankfurt International Book Exhibition is scheduled to open on 6 to 11th of October.
