Palestinians under 45 year old prohibited from prayers in al-Aqsa mosque
Palestine-Israel, Politics, 8/21/2004

News reports in the occupied Palestinian territories said that the Israeli occupation forces prevented persons under the age of 45 from getting into al- Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem to perform Friday's prayers.

The reports said that the Israeli police forces reinforced by army units and special forces, and units were intensively deployed in the surrounding of the old town and the streets of Jerusalem which lead to the mosque.

The report continued that the occupation forces prevented even elderly and sick people from entering the mosque under the pretext of the possibility of an emergency eruption after the prayers. The Israeli authorities fear the occurrence of acts of violence with the approach of the 35th anniversary of the burning of al-Aqsa mosque at the hands of extremist Jews.
