Iraq-UK, Politics, 8/20/2004

Iraq's Ayatullah al-Ozma Ali al-Seistani left Cromwell hospital in the UK where he is receiving medical treatment after he underwent heart surgery.

Fadel Baher al-Oloum, the spokesman for al-Seistani said he had left the hospital and "is in a good health condition but will continue to be under the supervision of doctors." Replying to a question on how long al-Seistani will stay in London, the spokesman said he does not know but noted that doctors did not permit him to travel.

Fadel stressed that al-Seistani wants to return back immediately to Iraq " but the doctors do not permit that because of his health condition." Al-Seistani ( 73 year old) arrived in London on August 6 and admitted to hospital to be treated of " a weakness in the heart."
