Iraq's president in Turkey
Iraq-Turkey, Politics, 8/17/2004
The Interim Iraqi President Ghazi Elyawer said that his talks with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Necdet Cezer were of positive spirit.
In press statements in Ankara, Elyawer said he had discussed with Cezer means of supporting joint cooperation. The Iraqi President stressed his country's rejection to any intervention in its affairs and its care not to interfere in the neighboring states affairs. He said that Iraq will never permit any side to inflict damage on its neighbors especially Turkey.
Elyawer arrived in Turkey yesterday accompanied by his foreign minister Hoshyar Zeibari in a visit lasting for two days. He is expected to discuss with the Turkish officials the security of Turkish truck drivers, of whom Iraqi gunmen detain many.
