Khartoum welcomes visit of Egyptian Defense Minister
Sudan-Egypt, Politics, 8/14/2004

Spokesman for the Sudanese Armed Forces Lt. General Mohammed Bashir Sulaiman welcomed yesterday the visit of Egyptian Defense Minister Field Marshal Mohammed Hussein Tantawi, and his accompanying delegation.

Tantawi will take part in celebrations today, marking the 50th anniversary of forming the Sudanese Armed Forces.

In his statements in Khartoum, Sulaiman said the visit was a clear proof of the deeply-rooted relations between Cairo and Khartoum.

Sulaiman lauded cooperation between Sudan and Egypt in all domains, noting that the four-freedom agreement signed by the two states would help enhance their ties.

Sulaiman called for furthering cooperation between the two states in the economic, health and education domains.

He also hailed Egypt for the medical consignment and humanitarian aid sent to help displaced people of Darfur.
