UN -Sudan Darfur plan of action signed
Sudan-UN, Politics, 8/11/2004

Sudanese Foreign Minister Moustafa Ismail yesterday signed with Ian Pronk, the special envoy of UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, the joint message by which a plan of action on Darfur was referred to the Sudanese President and the UN Chief.

In statements today, Ismail said a meeting of the Sudan-UN committee will be held this weekend to discuss the mechanism by which the plan will be implemented.

"We are going in the right direction as far as the Darfur plan of action is concerned unless complications and another agenda should surface," said Ismail.

The EU statement, Ismail added, affirms that the resolution adopted by the US Congress that alleged genocides in Darfur as an isolated one, adding the US administration itself had declined to endorse it.
