Laila Ben Ali: the woman is one pillar for development

Tunisia's First Lady, Laila Bin Ali, said that " Tunisia was the first on the regional and international arenas to be involved in various international agreements dedicated to human rights and basic freedoms."

She indicated in a seminar under the title " woman in the thinking of President Zine al-Abidin Ben Ali " that the project of reform and the change under the rule of Ben Ali " was built on a comprehensive and balanced vision for development, linking together the social and economic dimensions, ensuring interaction between development and democracy so as woman in Tunisia has become a basic pillar for development and her rights have become an integral part of human rights."

She stressed that " change and reform is a daily continued effort," stressing the role played by components of the societal texture in backing the government's efforts in empowering women to be able to cope with modern communications and further support her presence into the political scenes."
