Al Azhar committee condemns attacks on Iraq churches
Iraq-Regional, Politics, 8/4/2004
Al Azhar's permanent committee for dialogue among the Divine Religions condemned the attacks that targeted some churches in Iraq on Sunday.
In a statement on Tuesday, the committee reaffirmed the role of Al Azhar scholars and students in confronting violence against holy sites everywhere.
It said that the attacks were considered a crime against the Heavenly Religions.
The assailants who targeted the churches are enemies of the Iraqi people and the Arab nation, the statement said.
