Saddam Hussein defendant commission tries to make assurances about him
Iraq, Politics, 7/31/2004

The commission in charge of defending the former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein sent a message to the ICRC calling for having assurances on his health and stressed that no information is available for it over his bad health condition.

The chairman of the commission, the Jordanian Lawyer Muhammad al-Rashdan said that the Saddam's defense commission asked in messages addressed to the ICRC and the UN Secretary General as well as specialized sides in Iraq to permit sending a doctor that gives a report on the health condition of the former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein and permit them to meet with him. But al-Rashdan stressed that the request of the commission was rejected.

Al-Rashdan expressed the concern of the commission about the health condition of the former Iraqi President " after we saw him weak on the TV screens and notices that his right hand finger is wounded.

Nevertheless, the Iraqi human rights minister Bakhteyar Amin told the British daily " The Guardian" on Monday that saddam Hussein enjoys good health and is held in proper conditions.
