UN Security Council extends UNIFIL in south Lebanon
Lebanon-UN, Politics, 7/30/2004
The UN Security Council unanimously yesterday approved renewal of the UNIFIL forces in south Lebanon for other 6 months. But expressed concern over the repeated violations of the border lines between Israel and Lebanon and called on the Lebanese government to continue its efforts to control its southern borders.
The UN security council said it " condemns all acts of violence and expresses strong concern over the grave violations by land, air and sea to the withdrawal line." It calls on all sides concerned to " out an end to these violations and refrain any provocation or act that escalates tension" in the region.
The UN Security Council resolution also urged the Lebanese government to fill the vacuum resulting from the Israeli withdrawal and to confirm control on the southern region.
