Number of Baqouba victims tolls 60; More than 100 persons killed in different attacks in Iraq

The number of victims of the booby trapped car in front of a police center in Baqouba to the northern east of Baghdad increased to 68 persons, according to a statement by the Iraqi ministry of health.

Earlier, a spokesman for the Iraqi ministry of the interior said that 51 Iraqis were killed and other 20 injured in a new outcome of the victims of the booby trapped car explosion which took place yesterday.

The spokesman explained that 30 among the killed persons were queuing before the city police Gate waiting for interviews.

The Iraqi official added that " 21 persons were in a bus running near the police headquarters when the booby trapped car explosion took place and all its occupants including the driver were killed."

In southern Iraq, news were contradictory on the outcome of the clashes by weapons. The Polish ministry of defense said that clashes in armed weapons in southern Iraq resulted in killing 35 gunmen and seven Iraqi police members.

A spokesman for the ministry said that the American and Ukraine forces which took part in the clashes had no casualties and that the clashes took place in the area which is controlled by Polish forces in Iraq.

But a medical source in al-Kout hospital talked about the killing of five members of the police and the Iraqi national guards and wounding other 48 in clashes with unidentified gunmen in al-Sweira area.

In Baghdad, two persons were killed, one of them is 13 year old boy and other five injured when a mortar shelling fell on a residential area in the center of Baghdad.

Witnesses and medical people reported that one missile fell yesterday at the crowded Haifa street and several passerby were injured as a result.

On the other hand, the American army announced that one bomb went off when one American patrol was running on the road to the north of Baghdad yesterday and this resulted to the killing of one American soldier and wounding of three. The army added that the attack took place in Balad Rose area near Baqouba city.

In al-Ramadi to the west of Baghdad, one Iraqi was killed and four other wounded following clashes which took place yesterday between gunmen and the American forces.
