Sudan intends to release al-Turabi and party members
Sudan, Politics, 7/28/2004

A high ranking Sudanese official said that the government intends to release the leader of the People's Congress party Hassan al-Turabi, who is detained under the charge of provoking Darfur's rebellions. Al-Turabi is now in hospital.

The Sudanese minister of agriculture Majzoub al-Khaleifa said that all members of the opposition Congress party will be released as soon as possible.

The official did not set the date of releasing al-Turabi ( 72 year old) and members of his party.

The security authorities in Khartoum detained al-Turabi and other members in his party in March under the charge of provoking the rebellions in Darfur district to the west of Sudan.
