Washington reconsider the status of Mujahidee Khalq in Iraq
Iraq-USA, Politics, 7/27/2004
The Iranian opposition Mujahidee Khalq said that it had received a statement from the multi national forces in Iraq stressing that members of the organization which are in ( Mazar Ashraf) camp in Iraq enjoy legal protection, according to the Fourth Geneva Treaty.
In a statement, the movement said that according to that restrictions will be lifted from members of the organization while the protection of the camp will be by the American forces.
The American occupation forces agreed in May 2003 with the organization -- which made of Iraq its main headquarters for its operations against the Iranian government under the rule of the toppled Iraqi president Saddam Hussein -- to dismantle its weapons and gather them in ( Mazar Ashraf) camp to the north of Iraq under the American protection.
The same like Iran, the US and the EU consider Mujahidee Khalq movement which includes 1,000 fighters in Iraq, a terrorist organization.
