Abu al-Gheit meets al-Qathafi; Powel to meet Mubarak on Wednesday

The Libyan leader Muammar al-Qathafi and the new Egyptian prime minister Ahmad Abu al-Gheit yesterday in Sert, Libya discussed bilateral relations between the two states, according to the Egyptian minister.

Abu al- Gheit said that talks which were held during the meeting and lasted for two hours dealt with the situation in Africa and the Libyan leader analysis of conditions in the African continent especially the situation in Darfur in Sudan."

Abu al-Gheit indicated that he listened with "great interest to the Libyan leader and that the question of Darfur was deeply discussed by them. " Abu al-Gheit said he had conveyed a verbal message from Hosni Mubarak to al-Qathafi and by his turn conveyed a reply message to the Egyptian President.

Abu al-Gheit announced upon his return back to Cairo that the US secretary of state Colin Powell will be meeting with the Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak next Wednesday in the course of his tour on several countries of the Middle East and Europe.
